ZIMBABWE’S HEALTH SYSTEM IS DEAD BECAUSE OF ZANU PF

Zimbabwe’s health system is dead. What we are seeing today is not just bad — it is shameful. After 45 years under ZANU PF, hospitals in Zimbabwe are no longer places of healing. They are now places where people go to die.
A picture that was shared recently says it all. A patient with a broken leg had it wrapped in a cardboard box with tape. Yes, cardboard. This is not a joke. It is real. This is what hospitals in Zimbabwe are doing now. No plaster. No proper tools. Just cardboard and tape. This is a picture of failure. A picture of pain. A picture of a country that has been destroyed by the people who are supposed to lead it.
There are no medicines. There are no bandages. Even painkillers are hard to find. Nurses and doctors are leaving the country. They are tired. They are overworked. They are not paid well. So they go to countries where they can work in peace and earn good money. Now, there are no specialists left in most hospitals. People are dying from small things because there is no one to help them.
This is not new. In 2008, cholera came and killed more than 4,000 people. The world was shocked. But what has changed since then? Nothing. Between 2023 and 2024, another cholera outbreak killed 700 people. How can we allow the same disease to kill us again and again?
The truth is simple. The government does not care. ZANU PF does not care. They do not give hospitals enough money. Most of the money that keeps the hospitals working is not from the government. It comes from other countries.
Donors from the UK, Ireland, Sweden, and others send money to Zimbabwe. This money goes to the Health Development Fund, managed by UNICEF. It helps mothers and children. It pays for HIV, malaria, and other things. But it is not enough. It is not for everything. Even then, about 25 percent of all money used in the health sector comes from these donors. What kind of country survives like this?
And now, it is getting worse. The United States used to give a lot of help through PEPFAR — the program that helps with HIV/AIDS. But now they are reducing that help. When that money is gone, many people will suffer even more. Lives will be lost.
People in rural areas are suffering the most. There are no clinics. No medicines. No doctors. Some walk for hours just to find a hospital. But when they get there, there is nothing. Not even a nurse.
Zimbabwe has both infectious diseases and non-infectious diseases killing people. But the government is doing nothing. Hospitals are old. They are dirty. They are broken. People are dying because the system is broken.
This is ZANU PF’s legacy. This is what 45 years of their rule has brought us. A dead health system. No bandages. No doctors. No hope. Just pain.
We are now living like we are in the Stone Age. How can a country use cardboard for treatment in 2025? It is a disgrace. It is a shame.
ZANU PF must go. If they stay, more people will die. This is not just about politics. It is about life and death. The people of Zimbabwe deserve better. They deserve leaders who care. Not looters who destroy everything and leave the poor to suffer.
This is not normal. This must not continue. We must speak. We must rise. For our health. For our children. For our country.
