WICKNELL CHIVAYO GIVEN $400 MILLION WHILE ZIMBABWEANS DIE
Wicknell Chivayo is back again. This time, he has signed a deal worth over US$400 million. It is for cancer treatment equipment. But the big question is: is this really about cancer, or is it just another chance for him to make money?
Chivayo is very close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa. That is why he keeps getting big government deals. In the past, he got tenders in electricity, defence, roads, internet, transport, and even the 2023 elections. Now, he is going into the health sector too.
The cancer deal was signed with the Office of the President and Cabinet. The government agreed to pay him US$109 million every year for four years. That adds up to more than US$400 million.
The payments will start in March 2025. The first payment will be US$52.5 million, just two weeks after signing the deal. After that, Chivayo will get US$9.1 million every month, starting April 30, 2025. These payments will continue for 12 months, and then repeat the same way for the next three years.
All payments will be made in US dollars and sent directly to his bank account.
Many people in Zimbabwe are shocked and angry. Hospitals have no medicine. Clinics are empty. Doctors and nurses are leaving because they are not paid. Cancer patients are dying every day without treatment. But the government is giving over US$400 million to one man.
Why was this deal kept secret? Why was there no public tender? Why is one man always the winner? These are the questions people are asking.
People also want to know if this equipment will ever arrive. In the past, Chivayo got paid for big power projects and never finished the job. Court records show that he took the money and failed to deliver. Now he is being trusted again — this time with people’s lives.
This is not just about money. This is about life and death. Cancer kills many people in Zimbabwe. Most people only find out they have cancer when it is too late. We need proper hospitals. We need trained doctors. We need working machines. But instead, the government gives this big job to a man who has failed before.
The people in charge are not thinking about the nation. They are thinking about their friends. They are giving public money to the people they like. And the rich keep getting richer, while the poor suffer.
This must stop. These tenders must be public. They must go to companies that know what they are doing and care about the people. Not just people who are friends with those in power.
Zimbabwe cannot survive on lies and fake projects. We are already suffering. We do not need more deals that only help a few people.
This new deal is a big warning. It shows how broken our system is. It is not about helping people. It is about helping friends. That is why Zimbabwe stays poor.
Until this system changes, nothing will get better. People will keep dying while the connected few keep getting rich.
We must speak out. This is not about politics anymore. This is about life. This is about health. This is about the future of our children.
Wicknell Chivayo must not be allowed to keep winning while the country loses. Enough is enough. We must demand better.
