ABOUT

My name is Tanya. I’m a Zimbabwean political activist, writer, and one of millions of young people whose future was stolen by ZANU PF. I finished my O Level in 2021 and studied beauty therapy at St Peter’s College. I tried to build a life in Zimbabwe—doing hair and working hard—but like many others, I found myself stuck in a country with no jobs, no opportunities, and no future for the youth.

They always say the future belongs to the young—but how can that be true when we are left unemployed, voiceless, and invisible?

I began writing in December 2023 to speak out against the suffering, corruption, and injustice in Zimbabwe. But my voice made me a target. After standing in solidarity with UZ lecturers during a protest, I was questioned by police, watched, and followed. Cars began parking outside my home, and even after reporting it, no protection came.

On 10 February 2025, I left Zimbabwe and moved to the UK. I now work as a domestic worker, but I have not—and will never—stop fighting for justice. From this blog, I write boldly and truthfully about what’s happening in Zimbabwe. I write for those who are silenced, for the youth who are forgotten, and for a country that deserves better.

This is more than a blog. It is a voice. It is resistance. It is hope.
